Ironbark Energy (Ironbark) was established in 2014 with the objective of identifying properties throughout NSW suitable for establishing a solar farm and concluded that the Gunnedah Site was most suitable.
Ironbark ‘green credentials’ have been further enhanced by removing the asbestos from the derelict abattoir which dominates the Gunnedah Site.
The project and the asbestos clean-up have been greatly supported by the Gunnedah Community and the Gunnedah Council which lead to the Deputy Mayor, Gae Swain declaring that ‘our proposal was almost classified as a community service.’
The Gunnedah Solar Farm essentially allows individuals to invest in this exciting and fast growing sector of the economy.
